Thanksgiving can be a very
special time of year for families. We all get together
in one spot and celebrate together. We tend to eat and
remorse about our lives. We have a chance to catch up on
the news, and see the ones we love. We have a chance to
play games and share stories.
During this time of year I feel it is important to
remember to give thanks. We have a tradition in our
family that we take the time to pray about the things we
are thankful for. I always try to remember to tell my
girls that they have so much to be thankful. They have a
roof over their head, clothes on their back, food in
their tummy, friends and family that love them to
pieces. These are things that we sometimes take for
granted. Sometimes we get so caught up in the material
things in life that we forget to be thankful for what we
have. During this time of year I try to teach my girls
that there are families without homes or money to put
food on the table. We need to remember to thank God in
our prayers for the things he has provided for us.
There is so much to be thankful for this time of year we
need to show our thanks to others open a door for
someone, say a few kind words to a stranger, brighten
someone day by going out of your way to be nice to them,
and it will make your day nicer too. During the holiday
season we all tend to be in a rush to buy, buy, buy,
that we forget to give thanks. Doing things for others
reminds us to give thanks for all that we have. Also if
your kids see you doing things for others then you will
be an example for them. This will help teach them to be
responsible, generous, loving individuals.
Remember to take a few minutes this year to teach our
children to be thankful for the things they are already
have like friends, family, house to live, food in their
belly, and clothes on their back. Take the time to bake
cookies with the kids for that special teacher and their
friends. Remember to give those special people a gift.
During this time year all kids tend to want, want, want,
and we need to remember to teach them to be thankful for
what they already have in life.
